It was the Games Media Awards last Thursday night, at which our awesome games editor Julia Hardy was up for best mainstream magazine writer. It was a scary moment – if we’d won it, we’d have lost our record of never having won any awards for anything ever. What do awards even look like? We have no idea. Maybe something like a flute?
Luckily we don’t have to take “winners of nothing” off our CVs, as the award went to the lady from the New Statesman. The New Statesman is like the poshest magazine in the world, so it’s sort of like losing out to Hugh Grant in something – we can cope with that.
Congratulations to Julia for being nominated in the first place, to all the winners (especially this guy, who fucking rules), and cheers to the GMAs for having us. A full list of winners is here, and this piece that won the games writer of the year award is a great read.
