Blitz Kids are off on tour with Lower Than Atlantis this week (find dates HERE) and guitarist Jono has given us the band’s ultimate playlist to survive a tour.

The 1975 – Chocolate
We’ve been big fans of these lads for a while now, and we got to see them at SXSW for the first time. It was 30 degrees and we were outside drinking beers in the sun. It was the perfect music for it. So when we put this tune on, it takes us out of this miserable climate and back there where it doesn’t snow in April.

Justin Timberlake – Rock Your Body
JT is the man. There’s no questioning that fact. Usually we’ll put this on and have a mini-dance off. It doesn’t get too competitive unless we’ve had a lot drink. Joe knows the whole dance routine, which usually bags him the title of Dancing Queen. Unless I can nail the worm, in which case, I steal it from his clutches.

Don Broco – Whole Truth
These boys are the brothers we never had. The Blitz Broco party crew have crushed many cities and left the women trembling in our wake. Priorities was the soundtrack to my 2012, and this tune is just fucking perfect to drive to. It’s great to see the lads doing so well and getting the success they deserve!

Pantera – Cowboys From Hell
When we want to get our headbang on, this is our first port of call. It gives the neck muscles a real work-out and warms them up so we don’t injure ourselves when we’re on stage going mental. I can’t believe we’re playing at Download festival just before Vinnie Paul’s new band. I don’t know what I’m going to say to him at all. Probably nothing like a pussy.

Limp Bizkit – Counterfeit
I don’t really think I need to explain this one. It’s a no-brainer. If you’re in a band, and don’t listen to this loud as fuck when you’re on the road, then you aren’t really in a band. You’re in a joke.

Red Hot Chili Peppers – Otherside
On the long drive to and from venues, you can’t beat RHCP to bring the chill vibe meter to critical level. Californication is one of my all time favourite albums without a doubt. We smash three-part harmonies all across this song just for shits and gigs.

AlunaGeorge – You Know You Like It
Show me a cooler song than this that came out last year, and I’ll brandish you a liar. Great to wind down to after a sweatfest on stage. Usually, we’ll sit around in towels like businessmen at a sauna when this song plays, discussing the set we just played in a civilised and non-homoerotic manner.

The Bled – Red Wedding
Best beatdown ever. Period. Loads of bands these days pride themselves on delivering a brutal chugfest for the kids to get crucial in the mosh pit. But they all pale in comparison to this one. When it slows down at the end… Jesus. I lose my shit every time.

PSY – Gangnam Style
For us, Gangnam Style wasn’t a fad, it was a way of life. Matt, our drummer, knows all the words. Last year this was played at every club we went to after a show. We’d completely take over the dancefloor and just go fucking mental. I’ve been punched, bottled and verbally abused far more than usual because of this song. Thanks PSY. You owe me a new face.

George Michael – Careless Whisper
The perfect lullaby. This goes on in the van on the way back when we’re drifting off to sleep. We’ll spoon each other and bond on a very intimate level. It’s a beautiful thing.
