Well, this is shit. James Gandolfini died last night at the age of 51* from a suspected heart attack while in Rome – he was scheduled to make an appearance at a film festival. Gandolfini was, aside from his award-laden performance in the Sopranos, a hugely underrated actor – roles in films like True Romance, Killing Them Softly, In The Loop and even The Incredible Burt Wonderstone showed that he could make an impact even when his part wasn’t necessarily the main draw. And hugging him was probably like hugging Sully from Monsters Inc. Obviously he’ll be best remembered as Tony in the long-running HBO series The Sopranos – a true tour-de-force performance that’ll go down in history as one of the most ferocious and magnetic TV characters of all time. What a shitter.

*This means he was only 36 at the beginning of The Sopranos. Fucking hell. We’d assumed he was like 50 from the get-go.
