Both pure ace in their own rights but the US office has gone much further and theres a lot more of it and generally it’s pretty amazing.
The UK christmas special has to be the greatest TV ending ever for sorting everything out
Probably go with the US as Gervais can be a cunt

Ricky Gervais is brilliant, but I just don’t find Steve Carell to be funny.

Gervais makes me feel so awkward and uncomfortable. In fact, everytime I watch the show, he makes Brent so real that I want to punch the cunt straight in the face. For this reason the UK version wins my vote. The hatred makes the funny so much funnier.

English version without a doubt. The American version doesn’t even come close.

Not an easy choice. Both are great examples of what they are. The US Office is maybe a touch more ‘sitcommy’, but that’s no criticism as it’s always very, very funny. Simply cos it came first, I’ll vote for the home team.

I’m kinda shocked it is this close on a “.uk” site. I could never really get into the uk version, tried a few times but there is something about it that bores me. I thought I would really enjoy it after loving the IT crowd and loving the American version… but nope. I vote US, and I’m from the US.

Because Beefy will happily say “that’s what I think of your selection policy, yes I’ve hit the odd copper, yes I’ve enjoyed the old dooby, but will you piss off and leave me alone, I’m walking to John O’Groats for some spastics.”

Yea yea everyone is pretty much wired to love the original better, that’s just how people are so I don’t think this poll will show anything different BUT…

the AMERICAN version is simply better. It has better writing. It’s wittier and much more diverse then the original. Sometimes someone has a good idea, and then another person comes and along and makes it great.

Get over it people, they are both great shows but lets be fair, US wins.

Have not seen the Brit version but Ricky Gervais is a lot funnier than Steve Carell.

For what it’s worth, I do like “Coupling” a lot better than “Friends”.

Forget Gervais Vs. Carell – It’s all about bears, beets, and Battlestar Galactica….. Dwight Schrute!!!

The UK version as a stand alone is a ground breaking piece of comedy television. It is as clever as it was a breath of fresh air to our televisions. The first season of the US version was a pile of rancid curdled yak cak. The seasons thereafter have been the funniest well written comedy gold you could hope to blow your load on, and it has not stopped. Due to this, Dwight and co earn the right to rule the office….

    US 1

    UK 0
